The Archbishops of Canterbury and York have asked us to set aside the time from Ascension to Pentecost as a special time for prayer. This is what the Apostles did, together with Mary and certain other women, in the ten days after Ascension. The Archbishops want us to pray for the spread of the gospel and the coming of God’s kingdom.
Churches Together in Matlock are having a time of Prayer and Praise at the Imperial Rooms at 2 pm on Saturday 1st June. Bishop Jan will be speaking.
And in Saint Giles we are setting aside the Lady Chapel for silent prayer from 9 am to 4 pm on Saturday 8th June. The altar will be decorated with flowers and lit with candles and the Blessed Sacrament will be on view for adoration. Would people please volunteer to do thirty minute slots for this time of prayer? There is a list at the back of church. Please do help. Thank you.
