On Sunday 23rd July we will be having a United Eucharist for the whole benefice in Christ Church, Holloway. This will take place at 11am and there will be no 9.30am Sung Eucharist that day. There will, however, be the 8am Eucharist for those who can’t attend at 11am.
The purpose of this joint celebration is to give thanks for the fortieth anniversary of my ordination. This took place on 25th July 1977, Saint James Day. We are marking it on the nearest Sunday, 23rd July. The preacher on this occasion will be the former Bishop of Repton, David Hawtin. Afterwards, there will be a meal to continue the celebration in the Florence Nightingale Hall in Holloway. That will be on a ‘first come’ basis and I understand that a lot of the tickets are already taken up. But do please still come to the Eucharist, that is the most important part of the celebration.
Next year, on 24th June, we will have a similar event at Saint Giles Church to mark my ordination as a priest. Please put that date in your diary.
With every good wish from Mark Crowther-Alwyn
