During a very enjoyable gift day at Saint Giles on Saturday 28th November, where we shared coffee and wonderful cakes, we were joined by an unexpected visitor. Meet Van who, having bravely taken an unscheduled swim in the Derwent, had become parted from his human and had quite cleverly found his way up the hill to the church. We dried him off and gave him some buttered fruit loaf and soon reunited him with his very worried family. Saint Giles, protector of the deer of the forest, obviously prayed for him.
