We try to provide worship to the glory of God
Worship reminds us of the beauty of holiness. Here, the modern enhances the traditional and the traditional is attractive to the contemporary world. Our Family Eucharist on the first Sunday of the month aims to be child friendly without loss of dignity. We observe the traditional ceremonies of the Church’s year. Our autumn animal service has proved popular, when we bring our pets to church to receive a blessing. We pray for their welfare and thank God for the love and joy they bring.
Caring for our beautiful church building
Church buildings are sometimes thought of as detrimental to the mission of the church. We believe that its beauty speaks to our society of the peace of God. Volunteers keep the church open on weekday afternoons in the summer so that visitors may look around.
The worshipping community should be a place where spiritual growth takes place. Through the Sunday Fun Club, Godly Play, Meditation, Advent and Lent courses, we aim to deepen the faith and understanding of all ages in the church. The Mission Committee of the Parochial Church Council oversees arrangements for our spiritual growth.
The social life of the church enables friendships to develop through which we may be vehicles of the Holy Spirit. The Saint Giles Fellowship, the Mothers’ Union and annual social events in the life of the church work towards this aim.
A deepening bond exists between Saint Giles church and school. Many members of the church take a keen interest in the life of the school. We work hard to follow up baptisms, weddings and funerals with pastoral care both by the Clergy and lay members of the congregation.
